Literature

La Edad Media:

La Edad Media ("Middle Age") in Spain is a fascinating combination of cultures. Jews, Muslims, and Christians lived together in relative harmony. Each of these peoples gave and received literary traditions, language, and more. From El Cantar de Mío Cid, the first written work in castellano, to El Conde Lucanor, which was a Spanish 1001 Nights, to El Libro de Buen Amor in which a priest discusses life in very modern terms, the Medieval period in Spain was fertile ground for literature.
