Almohades
The almohades, or in English, the Almohads, were a Muslim, Berber tribe in northern Africa. One of their central tenets was the uniqueness of God, or monotheism.
They succeeded the Almoravids in becoming the leading political power in northern Africa and parts of Spain during the 12th and 13th centuries.
Important Dates:
1130: Ibn Tumart, founder, dies and is succeeded by Abdu l-Mu'min.
1147: The Almohads conquer Marrakech
1269: Marrakech, the last stronghold of the almohades is conquered by the Merenids
