Sociology Overview: The Paradigms and Assumptions of Sociology

The discipline of sociology is made up of broad paradigms and each of those paradigms is based upon broad categories of assumptions. The three major paradigms are (a) order, (b) pluralism, and (c) conflict. The broad categories of assumptions supporting each paradigm are (a) human nature, (b) the nature of society, and (c) the nature of science.
